MY OWN RESPONSE TO THE WORKSHOP

On this page, I will be showing my own response to the workshop we had in class.
INKSCAPE

Inkscape is one of the free software I downloaded on our 'install party'. At first I was very confused because there was a lot of tools right from the start. It reminded me of the very expensive software called Adobe Illustrator. Inkscape is very well equipped in terms of tools for drawing, from producing simple logo forms to more complex graphics. It was nicely coded and for a free software it is a very good replacement software.

SCRIBUS

This software is also a free software that I downloaded. This software is very straight forward. This software reminds me of the very expensive software called InDesign. I found it quite easy to use, this page took me 15 minutes to design. Although the layout of the software was cluttered, the icons has a clear design and easy to understand. Again a very good replacement software.

FONT FORGE

This is a software that specialises on Typography. This software enables you to create your own typeface. I think the software is nicely laid out and the icons has a clear design. The tools are very practical (WYSIWYG) Each of them helps you create a consistent, beautiful and unique typeface. I have found many difficulties on using this software. I found it very difficult to imitate and create a eligible letters. I found it difficult to to create a consistent typeface. I still think it's a good software and you just need to get to know the software better to create something great.

GALLERY VISIT

We visited a gallery on Oxford Circus. We saw some of the artist of this century. It was very interesting to see what Art is becoming and how technology is changing the Art we once knew.
